The Gelfand Family Charitable Trust serves to fund organizations that inspire students in the areas of STEM:

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Activities that promote STEM initiatives, typically in middle or high schools.
Excite and inspire students with hands-on experiential learning.
Emphasis on fundamentals: "It matters more how it works than how it looks."
Competitive events are welcome:
- Typically school-wide, district-wide, state-wide, nation-wide.
- Science Fairs that explore student-formulated hypotheses.
- Engineering Competitions: either free-form or standardized materials.
Build/design working prototypes of real-world situations or challenges.
Potential to purchase machining/electronics/science classroom equipment.
Parental involvement to be at the class-level or above, not at student-level.
